New Brunch Spot La Luna Cafe Gives You a Great Reason to Get Out of Bed in the Morning

“While La Luna Cafe retains the essence and veteran team of Simpatica, the new smoothies and bowls show it can grow with the times. And whereas Simpatica was a trail blazer—an irreverent Portland supper club whose bold flavors helped inspire Toro Bravo and Laurelhurst Market—La Luna is more familiar. It could very well go on to be Portland's best new brunch of 2018.”

Portland's Nine Buzziest New Breakfasts and Brunches

“For a subterranean cafe, Simpatica’s phoenix La Luna is awfully cheery, from the turquoise walls and hanging plants to the CBD-spiked smoothies. For breakfast, a pile of airy, buttery biscuits is a must, sweet or savory or piled high with cheesy scrambled eggs and rashers. For some fun juxtaposition, pair your heaping breakfast sandwich with a “Detox” or “Refresh” fresh-pressed juice.”

18 Essential Breakfasts in Portland to Start Your Day Right

“From the team behind Laurelhurst Market, Simpatica, Reverend’s BBQ, and Ate-Oh-Ate comes Your Neighborhood Restaurant Group’s latest revival: a subterranean breakfast joint in a refurbished rock club space. La Luna’s menu seeks to blend old favorites with newer, more health conscious options. Try one of the “Poptart” varieties, which come both sweet and savory, as you sip on local Marigold Coffee.”

“Yes yes yes. So delicious. Came across this place almost by accident while visiting Portland (was looking for something near-ish to the Portland Rock Gym).  My wife and I shared the Zaatar bowl with addition of lamb sausage (for something more savory) and the Charm bowl (for something more sweet). Both were super fresh and fantastic! Well thought out, balanced, and beautifully crafted!

If you're into intricate healthy good food or any kind of açaí bowl (or have putzing around just wondering about this sort of thing), come try it here! Just read through the menu to get an idea of the wonderful selections offered; Worth the sop!

Pleasant, tasteful, and refreshing; not much else to say except that I'm Bookmarking this place for whenever I'm back in town!”

“Best waffle of my life. Hands down, not exaggerating. Will return soon.

Cute space and quick service. The green smoothie was also quite good. It's hard to find a smoothie that good that doesn't contain banana.”

Bonnie R - Portland, OR
“Açaí bowl is to die for.  Slices of perfect avocado and a dollop of coconut cream with lots of lovely nuts on a sweet bowl of açaí heaven. Mmmmm!

I can't stay away and keep coming back for this perfect blend of breakfast protein happiness.

I pulled myself away the next time and ordered the crepes with the perfect sunnyside egg on top. Yet another dish made to perfection. Not too big or salty with just the right balance of sweet and savory.

I like ordering at the counter and then finding a seat. Makes it more casual and efficient. Each time, service has been excellent too. Easy to make changes and barista made an excellent latte. Check out the housemade lavender syrup.  Don't be turned away from the basement appearance in front. With lighting and careful attention to finishes and lots of fresh modern plants, you feel like there is sunshine all around. I'm just afraid this place is going to be discovered (probably already is!) and it'll be another PDX breakfast wait-fest. But right now, it's still under wraps so get in while you can and enjoy!!”

“I've seen this place alot on Yelp in my quest for Sunday brunch spots so I had to give it a try.

The space was not too busy and we were able to take a seat right after we ordered. Drinks were very good, the Paloma was a nice and kinda citrusy add to my meal.

Man oh man, the Irish Benny was SUPERB. The bacon and English muffin were so wonderful, but the hollandaise sauce was probably the best, so creamy with just a little zest from the lemon juice. Would order the same thing if I came back it was so good.”

“Portlanders, you could do a hell of a lot worse than breakfast/brunch at La Luna Cafe. This place has it all in spades: outstanding food, great espresso pulls, extremely friendly staff, and always has bitchin' tunes playing. 5 stars.”

Ben K - Portland, OR
“Outstanding! My new favorite restaurant in Portland. The servers are extremely nice, the restaurant is well lit and inviting and the place is clean. The food is brunch affair and the eggs Benedict were divine. Perfectly poached, delicious sauce, on a fluffy English Muffin topped with bacon. Awesome! Prices are fair and reasonable. Can't wait to return!”

“I don't say this lightly but the burger might have been the best burger I have ever tasted.”

Whitney O - Portland, OR
“Hands down the best cafe in Portland! Everything I've ordered thus far has been incredible, both savory and sweet. So far the Irish benny, waffle's, fat sandwich and burger have been my favourite's. They have some great healthy options too.

Everybody is super friendly! This place also happens to be conveniently located around the corner from where I workout.  I highly recommended this place to anyone who loves delicious food!”

“La Luna just served us the best breakfast/brunch ever!   Fat Biscuit and pancake. Incredible mixture of flavors.   If I wasn’t from North Carolina I’d come all the time. Great atmosphere, clear instruction when you walk in ‘please order at counter, we’ll bring food to your table and we’re happy to bus when you’re done.’ The pancake is not your typical pancake stack.   Get it, you’ll come back for more.”
